KZN185 3.0TD Bad Hot Starting
Hi, I am new here and have a technical issue with my 1998 Surf TD.
The truck is a Japanese import SSRX with a KZN185 3.0TD engine non intercooler model and it has the winter pack twin batteries and fuel heaters etc........
The truck starts fine when it is cold (I live in the Caribbean so no glow plug issues here) but when it is hot and has been standing for a while I have to crank it for about 15 to 20 seconds and it will then start with a cloud of grey/white smoke from the exhaust. When started it runs fine and always has a lot of power.
The truck has done about 155,000Km so it has not covered a great deal of miles and the engine should not be worn such as rings etc but you never know.
I have checked all the usual things like fuel lines, filler cap, tank breather, the fuel filter has been replaced and it runs on clean pump fuel but high sulfur.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
