Thanks man. I'm doing the same thing but on a 1994 Mustang Cobra. Dude quit driving it about 6 years ago for a more fuel economical and family friendly car. No motor/trans problems, replaced the fuel tank and everything inside of it, 93 Octane gas and she fired up. Been working on it here and there and driving it nearly every day, mad fun to drive!!

 

I wish I had the knowledge and time to do stuff like that. I've started a few project rigs and did some minor work...only for them to start sitting just like they did with the previous owners.

I'm guessing this is something you've done for a long time? You sell the cars after you're done to fund the next project?

I have done that. I started with a 91 Prelude Si 4WS that was wrecked in the front end. Mainly cosmetic damage, found all the parts in the same body color at the local J/Y and drove it for a while then sold it.
Later found another 91 Prelude 4WS with a bad motor, put a JDM B20A, replaced a few bad body parts, installed a new dash and some other parts and drove it for a while. Problem is the tuner dorks here always wanted to race me whenever I came across one. Rather than keep dealing with them I sold it, should've kept that car.
I buy/sell/trade all of the time but I am planning to keep this car. I mean it runs great, sounds great and I started to polish out the paint today and it will look great. Has some faded clear the bumpers, side skirts, spoiler and rear of the roof but the years of built up junk is coming off pretty easily now.
My 4Runner now will be with me for a very long time. I've always loved the 4Runner's looks and it has a cool name too! It will be an everchanging project/driver that we'll take everywhere with us.

I've learned that even if a non-Toyota drives nice and looks great...it just isn't the same. I will always own a Toyota.

Just completed the Tundra 231mm brake upgrade. Went with Advance Auto calipers, Akebono pads from Advance, Brembo blanks from WorldPac, Stoptech stainless braided brake hoses off eBay and some 1" spacers from eBay too.
I'm "think" I might go back to the Limited 5 star wheels like on the 2000 models b/c I don't care for the 1" spacer feel. It's a slight difference but I can definitely feel it.
I put new upper ball joints in both sides and a passenger side wheel bearing (making noise). I must still have some air in the brake lines b/c my pedal feels a bit soft but if I pump it a couple of times prior to coming to a stop it firms up very nicely.
8/31/12 - Vacuum bled the brake lines, adjusted the rears and I now have a very comfortable and firm brake pedal!

 

Been driving on the 231MM upgrade and am loving it.
Rolling through Lizard Lick on my way home from buying the canoe on the roof and had to snap a pic with the truck sign in the foreground. It would apply better to a select few monster 4Runner owners but funny nonetheless!

 

Well I didn't like the 1" spacers I had up front to clear the 231mm calipers so I took my spare LC80 wheel and ground off about 1/4"-3/8" off the spokes of a few and they cleared. SO, I'm going to start grinding away this weekend and will remove the spacers and be back to normal again.
The 1" spacers had me rubbing, I think on the pinch weld , whenever I hit a bump when turning and I can't stand that.

 

After you grind the wheel did everything work out? I have the LX450 wheels and would like to keep them on.

 

I probably ground off more than needed but I have no clearance issues at all now.

Painted my faded silver flares with Krylon before it got cold and they turned out terrific.

Finally had a chance to install the Bilstein 5100 Tundra setup and LC springs on it and I have to say it does ride very smooth. I have the front spring in the middle perch and may go up one notch to level it out some. The rear has a rake as seen in the pic but should settle.

 

What brand vent visors do you have?

Very nice build. Was the 1st gen roll bar a fairly straight forward install?

 

Once the front legs were cut to fit it was an easy install.

 

On the way back from the CWTS rainout at Martinsville yesterday. Bookmarked a little trail in my brain and stopped on the way home, nothing on top of the hill but garbage an a decent photo op.
