love you build. lots of pictures. its amazing how well the runner does even in 2WD. i leave mine in 2WD alot because its alot funner. once im locked, im sure i wont need 4wd as much lol

 

Man, how are you still getting 300 miles to a tank? I just finished regeared my truck after installing the 33" and I am still only getting about 230-240 miles to a tank. Maybe its time to check my o2 sensors...

 

maybe you should get a GPS to show what your actual miles are since bigger tires mean your odo reads slower or less than what it really is

 

That is exactly what I did...The GPS miles are between 230-240 and my odometer reads between 190-200...Something has to be off/wrong right?

Wow... have you been keeping your maintenance up to date? O2 sensors, spark plugs/wires, fluids, etc?

I have regeared my 4 cyl to 4.56, my speedo reads spot on with 33"s. This is only due to my 4cyl trans being differently geared.

Look into the Dakota Digital speedometer calibrator.

 

Yeah I have been keeping up wit the maintenance pretty meticulously since I got it...I just don't know if the previous owner did the same, which could be a factor considering I bought it with 140,XXX miles...

I changed out the spark plugs and spark plug wires about 30,000 miles ago, and have maintained, checked, and replaced all my fluids at the required/recommended intervals. The only thing that I haven't done yet is replace the o2 sensors, so I think I will try that and see if that does anything...The other difference that might be affecting my mileage is that I went with 4.88 gears...

Yeah the speedometer calibrator is definitely at the top of the list of mods right now, but it will probably be a while until I get one because I will be getting married and moving in early September...

you have 4x4 which means your front wheels are locked to the axle. you have alot more to rotate to get moving and keep moving compared to 2wd. also you carry a few more pounds due to all the 4x4 equipment. rims and tires will make a difference.

 

That makes a lot of sense...And I am running steel wheels and heavy tires so I'm sure that doesn't help my mpg at all. Thanks for the input!

4Runner receipt folder is getting a little big... tore the side already...


2. Received Unichip in the mail, free. Might use it, might not.


3. Teflon Intake Manifold gaskets arrive


4. Picked up my supercharger, freshly rebuilt. New bearings, bypass valve, seals, rotors, and nosecone.

looks good. making the 4 cylinder even that much better. i never seen one of these before in all the years i been working at toyota. are they carb legal? i seen all the v6 and v8 supercharges and they haul butt

Jay's not a big guy, but proves to be great when you're in a tight spot trying to get bolts and stuff in. He's the one that makes the CB mount that everyone's been asking me about.


Yeah, they're CARB legal. TRD made them ages ago with Alpine... though they were discontinued. LC Engineering now makes them.

It's definitely making my car faster, but I need more boost until I'm really going to be happy with it.

While successful, Jay and I were working on a strict time limit and had to finish the truck before a deadline. Because of such, we had to just get the truck working and not worry about fit and finish.

This morning when I went to start the truck, I got a check engine light.

I went to work and removed the intake, throttle body, and cleaned up the wiring by rerouting it to above the intake plenum. I also replaced the 2 lower throttle body bolts for some 5mm longer grade 8 bolts that had better bite with the threads. The old ones were too short with the added teflon gasket.

Double checked all of the vacuum lines, all of the sensor/injector plugs, and mounted the DLC1 OBD connector/EGR Modulator in their Toyota recommended spots.

No problems as of yet, everything's going well.

 

Sooooooo back in August, I was doin some night trail runs. Went probably a week in a row just out of boredom. It had been a few months since I had gone, and hauling ass makes things break.





Casualties: 1 Old Man Emu shock, 1 panhard bolt, 1 headlight.

On the trail, the shock was just removed and tossed in the back. The panhard bolt needed some crafty engineering that actually lasted us until the Lowe's parking lot, where I got a grade 8 replacement. The headlight was some stripped threads for one of the mounts that holds the lamp against the black frame.


Fixed them all the next morning.

Also other misc, fixed an issue with power steering line rubbing against supercharger nose cone.

That 4Runner owner that came over wanted to lift his truck, so we installed a Toytec ultimate lift kit, diff drop, black konig countersteer wheels, 285/75/16 bridgestone revo 2's, and 4 spidertrax spacers.

fast forward a month and a half:

For those of you who don't know, I've recently began collecting parts for my 4WD/R150F Manual swap. I have my bell housing and ECU (tested it in my truck, awesome). It's all been planned out already, mainly on other forums. Still waiting for that right donor wreck. Patience...





After 12 years, the window trim was starting to get pretty sun faded. I took on a new product called SEM Trim Black. SEM makes bodyshop grade products. This particular product dries harder than normal spray paint, giving it much more durability. The finish is flat black and looks OEM. I didn't go far enough to fill in pits or anything, the color is enough.

I replaced my rear spoiler a few updates back, finally got around to painting it.

Painted them, epoxied their 3 tabs back to each cap.

Thanks. Flares will be coated with Trim black rather than pathetic plastidip. The clear is already showing fade. I'll do that when I feel like it.

 

Sorry, forgot my new 2 D cell LED maglite/mount. Also got a hitch ball, but I have yet to tow anything yet since I need a drop hitch. Oh well.

oh lol i see it now. than why'd you get one when you need a drop. i know i got a hitch before my lift and than i lifted and had to get a new one. if your not looking to spend to much money on one. go to Lowes and get one the steel adjustable one. it was like $40 and being adjustable is better than a fixed one. trailer weight and cargo weight will change the height
