Thanks, it's a blessing that my engine got so bad lately because it's been running crappy off and on for like 2 years now. I'll be glad to be done with it and start fresh again! I'll be extra glad to get in the mid-high teens again for my mpgs too. My last tank of gas got me 8mpgs average. Horrible!

I sure hope it'll be all ready and broken in for KOH! It should be ready to pick up this weekend actually. Jason (j-money) was planning on camping out with me and my neighbor's group (Rock Skullz), you're welcome to camp with us too. I'm going out there thursday and staying till saturday, maybe even sunday.

use the search feature... it works well...

brian, your build is lookin really sweet... got me missin my runner...
and, yes, that is some rediculous flex for a 3rd gen... like, almost scary flex for coils... you arent afraid of one jumping the keeper/bucket?

Thanks space! We (j-money and I) had to run two 10mm trim packers on top of each coil because they were just falling out when we flexed. Jason actually had to go chasing after one of his coils down the trail, lol! The spacers keep em in there ok, but the 861 LC coils I have sitting on my coffee table are 2"+ taller than my 891s so they will stay seated much better (without the spacers)and give me some lift back too. My 891s have sagged a ton since I got my CBI bumper, spare and Hi-lift back there.

On a side note, if anyone is thinking of stacking OME trim packers to gain lift, I recommend not doing that. They make a ton of noise when you stack em. Sounds like someone's getting it on in a really old bed everytime I turn a corner! Only when it's hot outside though (weird). At 1st I didn't even think it was them that was making the noise but Jason's do it too.

Thanks md_runner!

So an update on the engine rebuild...

BOTH my heads were cracked! That explains the 8 mpgs and the no power! The shop found some used heads to rebuild and they aren't charging me any more since it's taking about a week and a 1/2 longer than he quoted. I won't have it for KOH, but that's ok. I'm just glad he caught it and it's going to be a whole new truck when it's done.

And I was just about to ask if you were going to be there to wheel Mottino.

Well, the engine rebuild was a success!! I got it back earlier this week (took a little longer than I was quoted but that's ok, I'd rather them take their time and do it right, rather than "right now"). It's running like brand new and I'm stoked! It feels like I gained about 15% more power compared to before the rebuild and of course it doesn't miss or hesitate anymore. The engine sounds 100% smoother now too at idle and at higher rpms. It does seem like my mpgs are a little on the low side since I got it back (I haven't filled it back up yet to see exactly what my mpgs are, but I'm at 100 mi. on a 1/2 tank so far). That seems to be pretty typical for the gas mileage to be a little on the low side during the break in period. I have read the rings can take a few hundred miles to properly seat and it can take several hours of driving for the computer to totally re-learn the characteristics of the new engine (not just reset, but re-learn). Hopefully I'll be back up to ~16 mpgs soon.

Yeah 16 is not great, but for for a heavy, lifted, V6 truck I suppose it's not too horrible. I'm guessing my 1st tank is going to average about 13. That's not good you're getting crappy mpgs also, but at least we know it's normal after a rebuild. I've even heard it can take up to 3-4000 miles to fully break in.

well, also, considering im not geared, have a heavy front bumper, and a toolbox full o'crap, im not gonna get the most ideal MPGs... but at least im still a featherweight compared to you... LOL!

We got dumped on this weekend, a couple feet of fresh snow...

Before..

During..

After..

I wanted to go wheelin this weekend but I spent all day Saturday shoveling snow and Sunday I had to give my truck some attention (put on my new and improved links and did a bunch of maintenance) so I had to pass on wheelin with the homies. Oh well, next time.
