Hey Joe,

I usually only take the rack off. All it requires is loosening the four support brackets.
If I need to take off the crossbars I do have remove eight bolts (two on each base of the Conferr mounting brackets). However I only remove the crossbars when I wax the roof.

Hey smr4runner, can you remove the conferr mounting brackets as easily as the yakimas?
I don't really know. But, the thing is solid. It is expensive to go all the way with the landing pads, control towers and bars, but I think it is worth it. You could also get the rack and mount it on the factory rack and nail the rest of the package when you can spend the extra cash. The whole rack and bars pop off quickly, leaving only the landing pads attached. You probably want a second person just to help lift the rack away from the truck without scratching. The same brackets that come with the rack will hold it to your factory setup or to the Yak bars. If you want any pics I have plenty I could e-mail you.
