That's what I have. They haven't failed me yet off-road. I wish they looked more aggressive, but the balance very well and are quiet.

My dad put around 80K on his and they still had another 10,000 left on them when he replaced it for the same tire. His are the LTX M/S model.

I'd probably go with either Bridgestone or Michelin. I've had several sets of Bridgestones and always had great results from them. Michelins always receive rave reviews. Looks like the yes has it by the poll results.

My dad got around 85K miles out of a set of Michelin LTX M/S tires on our old Surburban(read: a lot heavier than a 4Runner). But, he plans to put Revos on his truck when the time comes b/c he likes mine.

Both tires would be a good choice.

Matt,
I just had a set of 275/70/16 REVOs installed. The ride is perfect, a bit more 'hum' but absolutely nothing invasive. The extra width over my stock Dunlop TG-35 looks great and gives the truck a better road feel. I also just installed a set of '99 4WD coils and Bilsteins all around, so the truck just plain feels great at 72,000 miles! Here is a pic:

I have Dunlop Mud Rovers on my 2wd. I got a deal on them, but I am sort of unhappy. They are really fringgin' loud. My front end shakes anywhere over 70 mph. But, they do look cool and have excellent wet traction.

I don't think you'll regret it. I'd shoot for Nitto Terra Grapplers. I had those on my 3rd Gen and loved them. The only reason they're not on this truck is because they don't make them in a 17 thats 33" inches tall.

Easily the best tires I have ever owned. Not much road noise, great wet traction, clean themselves (from mud) and wear extremely well.

My $.02

Matt:

I have the Nitto's as well. I love them. They're more agressive than the Revo's or the LTX's. If you want to check them out and seel how they hold up, just give me a call. I got them from a discount place downtown for $540 installed and balanced. If you want to stick with Bridgestone or Michelins, I'd pick the Bridgestone's for better traction and the Michelins for long-lasting durability. You'll be happy with any of the three.

I put some Toyo Open Country A/Ts on my 2wd runner, and I love them.

No worse road noise than the Michelin M/T tires that were on before, and they have excellent wet and snow grip.

I have no excuses for me doing all the work on my 2wd. I just like the look. But oddly enough, I think me running 33" with 5 inches of lift is still to small. I want to go higher and wider in the rim/ tires. Since it is 2wd, I dont gotta worry about suspenion travel, Im going for all they looks.

edit:
If you end up with the dullers, get the revos. I regret getting the non-revos every day (espcially when it rains)

another grat tire. My buddy has a set on his 94 Suburban that is used a lot to tow a 3500# enclosed trailer w/ bikes. THe tires wear is great. Good traction in all conditons and cheap (ish)

Here in Wisconsin, you see a lot of 4x2 trucks with A/T tires.
