I have my Flex-a-lite fans hooked up to the AC clutch wire. When the clutch engages, the fans go on to cool the condensor while sitting. I am trying to install a manual override switch that allows me to turn off the fans when the AC clutch engages. There is no need to have the fans running while on the freeway IMO. I have noticed a .5 MPG decrease with the fans running on the freeway.

I tapped into the flex-a-lite AC wiring that goes to the FLX control box from the AC clutch. I fire up the truck, kick on the AC...everything is cool. The switch is even illuminated at this point. The problems start when I turn the switch off. I immediately blow the Toyota 10A fuse under the hood. Every time, it never fails.

So do I need a relay in order to branch off the clutch engagement wire? Why does this keep happening?

Please help.

PS: I do not want to run a switch that disables the fans completely. I still want to enjoy the safegaurd of the thermoswitch.
