Northwest off road sells hella backup lights with the ff lens. They aint cheap but man they throw a wide long pattern. I have put them under water at the boat ramp several times over the years without a failure. If you want them to just work in reverse run a fused wire to a relay and let the relay be activated by a wire going to the reverse lights. If you hook a couple of 55 watt lights to your reverse lights without a relay it blow the fuse by drawing to much current.I hooked mine up so they can be turned on manualy or in reverse. For the ass@#$ that just dont want to get off your bumper it works wonders.

WOW. just saw this one resurrected from old post graveyard. I finally decided to simply have on/off with the lights. Trying to wire for auto-on would be a hassle. I found that with my original diagram, that it would work just fine, until you forget to turn the switch off and throw it in reverse, then you fry something and possibly start a fire. You would only be able to do it with a 3 position switch and different relay. I'm sure somebody said this earlier in the thread but i just skimmed thru.

hey, before i fry something, just want to make sure (cousin put some doubt in my head) by wiring it this way, could the power (through the switch) travel back down the 'hot when in reverse wire'.. and then possibly fry a relay somewhere in the vehicle? i thought it would be fine, cause it would be an open circuit? my cousin seems to think different.

The last ones I wired up I used (2) 30A relays, one for when they come on when in reverse and then one for when you use a switch. I don't like putting (2) power leads into one contact like that...
