Why is it so difficult to find "3/8 transmission hose"?

Why in the world is it so difficult to find "3/8 transmission hose" for external cooler?

I went to local Autozone, Pepboy, Murray etc. But I could not find one. Only that Autozone was carrying bundles of Goodyear hoses in a lot different sizes EXCEPT 3/8th. Murray checked the back-room but they don't have it. Pepbody guy handed me "fuel line" hose... I said, No thank you.

Where to get it? Should I continue to drive around local area... I didn't expect that the most difficult part in external cooler installation is to find the right extended hose....

Why would you not use fuel line, its tougher, oil resistant, and its 3/8. ?

maybe, fuel line is chemically more resistant
But the hose that I was handed had too soft wall that, when I bend it, it was just too easily bent and squeezed so that it didn't seem to maintain its inner diameter at all at the bending corner. Maybe, it was that particular fuel line hose?

As far as I know and feel, the fuel hose that I examined does not at all stay close to the OEM transmission hose line of my 97 4Runner in terms of hose wall rigidity. When I install external cooler in front of Ac condenser, I want to have the fluid flow as smooth as possible without being restricted by kinked hose...
