Nice! Can't wait to see the build progress. Will be killer when you're done.

Keep me updated on those 4.56s too...and you know why I'm sure.

Got the quote back for the gears, masters, truetrac LSD before shipping is $1K. Kinda thinking about having all the work done at one time as apposed to manual hubs 1st then diff's and lockers/LSD. The hubs will be here in a few days along with the aussie locker (Front). Total for pats and shipping for all the other parts I need to make the swap go easy $670 shipped from toyotapartsales.com. Not sure where the money is coming from but I guess I'll go and stand on the corner.

Well the aussie locker, gears and lsd, and new toyota parts will be here next week towards the end. I still need to find Taco cv's in the non add fashion. Hopefully I will have this installed within the next 2wks. I have been working on the Aisin hubs mainly because I have nothing better to do. Heres what I have so far.

Gettin there. Today almost all the parts arrive in the toyota order less the wheel bearings that were on the sheet but not in the package () also shorted me 4 washers (2x). I picked up the new cv's from the local auto store. The gears and rear LSD should (God willing) be here tomorrow. The aussie locker has been here since the beginning of the week. So I've packaged it all up and left room for the gears and diffs in the box. The silver fox (catchy name) is headed to the shop tomorrow assuming the arrival of the gears is a go.

Aaron dont forget you need new spindles, or used ones, the wheel bearings are different in the auto hub spindles and the man hub spindles.

Just ordered the wheel bearing with all the other OE parts so press out and then press new in, Easy as pie. The aftermarket cv's whole were $79ea. but at the dealer $300+. So we'll see if they are as strong.

Did run into a snag though the bearings I ordered were on the pick list from Toyota of Dallas but they never arrived. I emailed yesterday and called today, asked about UPS's insurance on the package covering me being out of parts, but they said they felt like it was dishonest. Hmm I'll keep ya informed I hope this works out for the better. The LSD and gears didn't show today with my brown santa so The truck is on for parts install mon. or tues. depending on brown santa.

Bearing were credited back to my account thanks to Toyota of Dalas, and I picked up the replacements at Napa Auto. Which oddly enough didn't end up be replacements because they were OE. Apparently Napa stocks a good deal of Toyota and other brands that are OE only. Install is set for Mon or Tues.

You know it's always something. The LSD came to the office last Fri. I got to the office this morning around 730. I looked at the box and maintained composure. Where I wanted it to say 4Runner 8.0 it said Tacoma 8.4. SOB what the hell is going on? I emailed PORC to see what the problem was and am awaiting a solution. I might have to go to 4wheelfarts and see about getting it from there. The truck goes into the shop today w or w/o the rear LSD. Got a trip next week truck has to be done.

Ok so the current situation is the truck is in the shop. I talked to PORC but they said theyd be happy to send the new stuff out when my old returns. Umm yeah well let me be the nice guy and I'll pay fo you to send all the parts I need + overnight and then you credit me when you receive the 8.4 crap. Oh because come to find out they sent all 8.4 stuff R&P install kit and LSD. OMG then they said they most likely wouldn't cover my shipping it back, man you know I just ask that people do the right thing why is that so hard? I didn't say I wanted a rear end for a TACOMA, I said 4RUNNER I know same amount of syllables but the second one has a #. Then I spent on hour on the phone with them saying I had a 8.4. I assured them this wasn't possible, thank God I had the Taco and the Runner in the drive way. I quickly measured my diff 25 1/4"and compared it to the Taco 27" around the pumpkin like thing. DUHHHH so I'm a 8" like I said from the beginning. We got it ironed out so far at least getting the parts here or to the shop for that matter. I'll let you know what happens.

Now my mechanic tells me that the pinion splined shaft on the new pinion is smaller than the drive shaft flange. What should I do? There are 27 splines ans 1" on the pinion, and 29 ( I think) and 1.1" on the old. So much difference btwn the two you can stick the pinion into the flange and rotate it around.

For what reason did you go through the trouble of installing manual hubs? You do know that they make your front end considerably weaker and more prone to axle or CV joint failure...

That being said, if you're interested in a pair of Aisin hubs good for parts only (internals are perfect, hub body damage around cone washer holes) so you can have some spares when you damage yours, PM me...

Thanks I guess. This setup should be fine for me, but I don't here the manual swap guys saying they have more or less breakage issue than the add type. At least I"ll be able to disengage my shaft from the locker. Still trying to figure out why the hell the rear pinion isn't the right size to match the drive shaft flange.

Not sure how I missed this thread before.

Aaron - it seems we're always doing the same mods around the same time: susp, skids, now gears and lockers.

I got my gears from PORC too, I think I talked to Alex? What brand gears did you go with? I ask because I have part numbers for Motive here. Although I went with 4.88's. You might email Zuk about your issue and see what he has to say - he's pretty much an authority regarding differentials. www.gearinstalls.com

If you found out what the pinion is, maybe you could get a new driveshaft flange to fit it? Just trying to figure out what would be quickest for you. Is your truck at a friends place or taking up a shop's bay?

Just got an email off to Inchworm, marlin doesn't have an email w/o logging in. They are about the same price, but after overnight or 2 day almost doubles. The only thing I can hope for is someone some where learns from my mishaps. Cause they sure as hell aren't my mistakes. Apparently I've got a 2001+ manlier flange mount and the after market gears are the old style v6/turbo which are 27 and about 1" dia. Mine is 1.1" and either 1,2+/- splines. I will be calling noon eastern on Monday and telleporting some flange adapter to me. I hope thats the issue from what I found this should solve it. Kinda blind sided me.

I could look at the Zuk site all day. I have the motive gears and they are in the shop 236 miles from my current local. From some research I'm thinking the gears are right but need that damn flange adapter. I look forward to using the aussie with the aisins. Should be a good combo.
