Interesting... I've had my truck for 9 years and no rust for me Knock on wood!!!

If you want to see ill effects, I should load the pics of my truck right before I bought it, and one and a half years later when the rust had increased almost 3x as much. The older trucks are notorious for rust though. Something about them using some electrostatic sealer, but they didn't ground the truck bed properly so the sealer was no good. Also I heard the seams just weren't done right allowing moisture in.

I got an 84 4runner with 254,*** miles. Just rebuilt the motor. Still runs, drives, stops, and shifts bad. It's god awful slow. Only gets 17 or 18 mpg. It's offroad capabilities leave much to be desired. It's covered with dents, dings and scratches from traildriving {barely noticeable because of excessive mud}. It's also got a screwed up bumper and turnsignal from running over a mule deer.

Can't wait to get my camaro up and running again.

Hangs down? You mean the differential? Or the front end? What lift do you have?

EDIT: I just saw what kind of lift you have, I have a Rancho lift in front with blocks in back, not that much flex in the front or rear, thats why i want to put ball joint spacers in front and longer shackles in the rear.

It looked like the front bracket of your lift hangs down lower than my trailmaster. Basically where the skid plate would attach.

Up front I get very little flex, but my back is perfect. I have skyjacker 4 inch springs. My old block didn't do anything for flex so I bought these springs for just under 400 and they rock. It's a rough ride without a load though. I'll be taking these off in the summer. If you're interested in em' I'd be willing to part for 200.00, but you'll have to wait.

I really want my front flex to get closer to my back flex.

MALLRAT Your truck is badass. What bumper do you have in the front??? I like that.
The color is killer too. How much did you $$$$ on the paint.

What kind of engine mods do you have to make that 22 roll those badboys and what kind of gas mileage are you seeing???

Thanks, I appreciate that. The front bumper is a hacked up Smittybuilt with a custom winch plate welded in. The paint is Viper Blue and cost 400 bucks. My screamin 22RE is running COMPLETELY stock with 5.29s. I get 14mpg around town.

Cool. That's one of the most complete looking solid axle 4runners in my opinion. Not much that I would change. I need to repaint my rig, so hopefully I can find a deal like that around here.

How well has the paint stuck to the fiberglass top?
Looks good to me, but I've always been skeptical about repainting mine.

Thanks -Seth

22RE is awesome, its all about regearing axles and Tcase.

Fiberglass can be painted, just has to be prepped right. I am gonna rattle can mine this summer.

There has been no paint peeling at all... The only thing to be careful of is to prep the top more than you do the rest as it is actually a different texture than the rest of the truck.

Safari Snorkel... Made by ARB. Any dealer of ARB should be able to hook you up. I ordered mine off of Summit Racing. Just call them and talk to them. Theyre good about shipping too. Thanks for the compliments.

Another REAL 1st gen here. No recent pics, i may have one a year old or so, but that doesnt do it justice. Its been hacked, whacked, bashed, beaten, sunk, DROWNED, broken, did i mention whacked and hacked ? Not to mention 22 years of northern Illinois salt baking on it. Hood only opens when it wants to, one fender is 3" shorter than the other, pass door opens but doesnt close, it takes vise grips to roll the window up and down, but at least the glass didnt break.

Next wheeling trip ill get somebody to snap a few pics of her. you michigan boys should come on down to the new park that just opend here in Illinois. I spent countless weekends out there helping get it open and trails cut, and man is it fun. Unfortunately the pre run i did damage that resulted in me having to be trailered home. It is definately swamper territory. Ill try to get an actual run there going in a couple weeks, i could even have people stage/crash at my place if needed. My thread hijack is over now.

My interior still smells bad from the last time. I was in up to the headlights in poo-brown water. Not fun at all. Well, it still is fun, just not for the passenger.
