Where's the fuel filter?

I have a 2002 4Runner with the S/C. Recently, when I accelerate under normal conditions, when it hits 2700-2900 RPM, the vehicle loses all power and drops to around 2000RPM. It's become quite annoying. Anyway, I've been instructed to locate the fuel filter and inspect it for debris or anything else out of the ordinary. So where is it in a 3rd Gen? Also, does my problem sound familiar or do you have any more suggestions?

Thanks,
Blue

Mine acted the same when I messed up the MAF. I had to replace it.

But yours could be fuel related also. Good Luck.

It's located underneath running along the inside by the frame about half way down the drivers door. It's black, round and about 4" long...

The fuel filter is under the driver side of the vehicle, approximately where the seat is right next to the frame rail.

From my write up on the Two Low Mod. This shot shows the fuel filter in perspective with a few local landmarks.

Rob: Thats right on the money! Nice that you have that available.

Blue: Make sure you replace it somewhere that you don't mind fuel dripping. The system is under some pressure and will leak about a half of a cup, if that. Piece of cake, maybe 10 min.

Did that start happening before or after S/C? Or after you had S/C for a while?

Man, I wish my fuel filter was that easy to get too. A lot less curse words would have been used if it was.

By the way, some folks here said to unscrew the gas cap to let off the pressure before changing the filter. Might save you a little fuel.

Just on a side note, it uses compression fittings, Be sure to tighten the fuel lines BEFORE tightening the bracket to the body
