wheel and tire question
I tried searching but could not find an answer. I'm a newb to 3rd gen 4runners. I've got a 97 4runner limited 4x4 v6 automatic. Im looking at a set of pro comp steel wheels size 16x8 with 4inch backspacing. I'm going to run a 285/75/16 mud tire. I will be buying the sonoran steel 1.2 lift. am I going to have any problems running this combo? is the backspacing going to clear the a arms or should I get 3.75 backspacing. i would like the tires to stick out past the fenders a little for the agressive look, but dont want the tires to hit the fender flares during full compression. you guys running the 285/75/16 on the 3.4 auto, did you notice a big loss in power? I've got the tow package and 265/70/16 were stock so I'm only going from a 32inch tall to 33inch. thanks for the help.

Im pretty sure that setup will work with the 4 inch backspacing. You may have problems with rubbing at full lock depending on what tires your get.
I have 285's and an auto, you can tell a difference in power but its not that bad, for example on the highway the rpm's will be higher than with the 265's.
And the 265/70/16 is a 31" tire.

If your set on getting the steel wheels, go with 3.75" BS. 4" works fine but wider is better. Hitting your flares will not be an issue.
See 'this' for pics & info regarding aluminum 4" backspaced wheels. Most are running 285's with the same amount of lift as the SS 1.2 and discontinued 1.1
You'd be going from a 31"~ to a 33" tire.
