Question Wheel Size and Functionality Question

Hey All,

I have a question about larger sized wheels and tires. I am debating about putting some 20" wheels on my runner, and seeing that I mainly stick to street driving I thought that it shouldn'e be a big deal. Question is I know that the larger the wheel the smaller the tire, and I do not want to place any limitations on my runner, i.e. not being able to take a curb to get out of a traffic jam or anything of the sort. Also I have heard that if I go too big that the speedometer calibration will be tossed right out of the window as well as issues with gears. Is any of this stuff true? Can it be prevented in any other way than not getting the 20's?

Please help!!!

Ok..Um...You can get a set of tires that will match your currenty outside diameter pretty well, so it shouldn't mess with the speedo/odo. However, I wouldn't be taking curbs in 20's. There simply won't be enough sidewall, and I'm willing to bet that you'd be dinging your rims right and left. 20's are simply street only. (unless you're bily and fit 37's on 22's )

A good tire shop should be able to fit you with the perfect tire size.
