Wheel questions

Why would one choose a 15" wheel over the stock 16" ? Just curious. I was looking at purchasing some Mickey Thompson Classic II's. I would like to go w\ a bigger tire than my 265/75/16's. Maybe to some 285's if I were to purchase 16" wheel. I don't think I could fit 33/12.50/15's underneath w\o rubbing though. Hmmm....decisions decisions....money money money.....

I just love buying things for the 4Runner, don't you

from my experience, the only real advantage to a 15" wheel is that 15" tires seem to run cheaper than 16" tires.

Yes, they'd certainly be less expensive. The overall weight of the tire and rim would be lighter, which means they would move and bounce easier, possibly making a smoother ride over bumps.

Just a side note... if your runner came with 16's stock, you can't go down to 15's. The brake rotors are made for the 16's and are too big for 15's to fit over.

Also the percentage of sidewall is greater further smoothing the off-road ride. But if you have the larger rotors, dont try it

I ran into the same problem, wanted to go with the 15" wheels, however, after I checked I noticed I have the 13" rotors....just would not work :^(
