What year instrument panel can I use?

What year instrument panel can I use?
95.5 2wd Taco. Base S auto, would like to swap dashes to get the tach and trip odemeter.
Read elsewhere that the tachs were mechanical in 96 and then not after that. Make sense? Seems like they would have made the change when the new model came out?
SO, do I need a 96 or OLDER? Or can I use any of the newer ones?
