yep, I was mistaken...not an oem alarm light, but rather seat heater controls.

The switch next to the steering wheel is the center diff lock switch.

 

For the record, its not mine, therefore gaining access to the manual woudl be problematic at best. I dont own a 4Runner yet but am activly looking and trying to determine the differences in the years without asking the whole list every little question. For those that helped, thanks. For those that smarted off, bite me. <grin>

I think I've settled on a 99-00 Limited 4wd with Rr Diff Lock. But apparantly there is some sort of bubble over middle Tennessee preventing diff lock equipped 4Runners in.

I'll keep looking.
