What are some possible reasons for a bumpy ride?
As i mentioned a few threads ago i was planning on replacing my shocks and i am just after i get my front end aligned, but are there any other possible reasons why i could be having such a bumpy ride????
I know its a truck and not a caddy but ive been in trucks my whole life and nothing has been this bumpy.
So far ive been told that it could either be something in the front end or it is my shocks, so im getting an aligned, balanced, and checked out, then replacing my shocks.
SO CAN YOU THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE THAT MAy BE CAUSING TIS BUMPY RIDE????????????
its a 97 tacoma xtracab 2wd 3" body lift 30" tires stock springs, stock rear shocks, rancho 5000 in front.

i drove an 03 DC once and noticed that the bed vibrated a ton more than i thought it would, like a twisting resonance through the frame. not noticeable on my 4Runner. maybe the body lift replaced some ruber bushings and now the vibrations are going through the frame straight to the cab and to you.
Just a thought.

Yeah, over inflated tires, maybe some worn bushings. How old are the rancho's you have up front? Most shops will warranty out faulty ranchos. I went through 3 sets in 3 years on my ranger before getting rancho 9000's

i dont know how old they are, i just bought the truck and i didnt realize that it rode that rough until i got onto a bumpy road after i bought it.
like i said im dumpin the rancho and gettin it aligned and balanced, and checked out.
and there are still bushings on the bottom of the body lift pucks, i have tought of that maybe they need to be tightened or something tho.

I've yet to own a Toyota truck that wasn't a kidney buster, no matter WHAT I did to the suspension. Hate to say it, but get used to it. Look on the bright side... I'll bet it handles more nimble then your average truck.

Thats terrible. With the right springs, shocks, and tires theres no reason these trucks can't ride like a cadillac. The hardest part is the rear end. Making these trucks ride smooth empty, and with 1000lbs in the back is a challenge. Tuning your suspension to perform the same empty and full has always been a challenge.
IMO the front end is easy to tune. The rear, uhghg, I ended up going with F-150 rear springs, the lightest valved shocks I could find, and air bags.

I have the same problem. The rear is so bumpy it drifts out on bumpy dirt roads. I'm thinking I need new springs in the back. Maybe new shocks. I've got some roughcountry ones and there not kidding when they said rough country. If ya find anything out let me know.
