What should I use to clean my MAF

I just replaced the MAF on my 3.4L. It appears the MAF was in a very dusty dirty environment.

What do you guys use to clean your MAF sensors?

I took the two screws that hold the MAF in place and removed it, cleaned it with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Just be careful not to use too much pressure. You will be amazed how much crud comes off on the q-tip!

You can use electrical contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol but the method to clean the sensor will depend on what year motor this is. If you have a 99+ then the sensor is easily accessible and be cleaned as mentioned above, but on 96-98 motors, you can't clean it with a q-tip very easily (just need to soak it in the cleaner repeatedly).

This might help for 96-98:

....or for 99+:

Do not clean it with a q-tip becuase you risk the chance of damaging the hot wires without knowing it and your wallet will lighter by a few Benjamins. Just spray it librally by following the procedure on the 4x4wire.com site and just let it air dry and slap the puppy back on.

I used "CRC" Electrical contact cleaner. You get it at the hardware store...or computer part stores will have it too.

That is what I used, I would also highly suggest not using a q tip, just spray it and let it dry, repeat if necessary.
