Do I buy a 85 and swap the rear end (simpler then doing a SAS swap I would think), add vented rotors, and cross over steering or get a IFS runner and just do the front SAS swap. Which one is the way to go, money (I already have a lot of parts paid for) and simplicity wise.
If I hadn’t of found this ’80 I’d just of SASed the Runner and of called it a day. I personally think the early year model pickup trucks (round fenders and head lights) are the best. I’ve wanted an early pickup for some time but there not really easy to find around here in any kind of decent shape.

To tell you the truth I think it’ll cost about the same and be about the same amount of work no matter what route you take.

EDIT: To make your choice easier write on a piece of paper the pros and cons of each route your thinking of taking.

All in all... a Toyota is a Toyota... I'm just glad you guys aren't putting Chevy engines in them. As long as you guys are sticking with Toyota all the way with these, I think they'll be awesome, regardless of what kind of work you do to them. "I love what you do for me... TOYOTA!"

Why buy a Toyota if you plain to put a domestic engine in it? I just don’t get the logic. The 1 reason you buy a Toyota is for the drive tran.

i hate the boring old chevy 350 as much as the next guy, but the small blocks from the big three are very reliable engines if you actually take the time to build them. a lot of the differences in reliability with toyota vs american are with how they're machined and assembled.

that said, i'd kill to get my hands on a V8 from a toyota century. basically a doubled up 20R

I guess I’m just partial to Toyota. I’d rather spend a little more $$$ and have a Toyota engine.

ah yes, i'd spend some money on one of those 4.0 V8s i'm talking about hemi chambers, overhead cam, supposedly 20R pistons and gaskets work with them.
