Monroe's all around on my 79 Pickup...rides surprisingly well, very happy with the offroad performance as well

stock junk on the front end of my 90 4Runner and Rancho 5000s in the back..the ranchos are amazing!

What vehicle do you have? Are your Bilsteins Silver or Yellow? What's a Log Wagon?

I am thinking about installation of Gabriel Hi Jackers Air adjustable shocks in the rear.
And leave front OEM for now (I have 98K miles).
Gabriel Hi Jackers Air adjustable shocks are lifetime warranty from Autozone and you can adjust them for a deferent load. So I am hoping to have stock feel on the road when empty and maintain height and feel of the truck with extra load or towing.

My mechanic highly recommends staying away from Gabriel. I put them on a car once and it rode like a boat on the ocean.

Monroe's are a much better choice if you want your truck to ride like a couch.

Stock replacement would be Tokicos like you get at the dealer, Monroes are softer still.

My mother-in-law has a 97 2wd that has always ridden like a buck-board from day one.

And seriously, what's a log wagon?

Your springs might be shot too, which doesn't help the situation.

Not to steal this post but would you recommend to go with Air Bags instead of Hi Jackers (if you want have load adjustability and stil have a soft ride)? And any body can comment on a durability of the air bags? Do you need to replace them every 3-4 years?

Thank you.

lol to me it rides like a truck.. it doesnt squeek or anthing and i dont get that "wheel hop" kind of noise going over gravel.. but i do think i need new shocks.. but hell i cant afford it anytime soon.. this year alone i am looking at new brakes, tires, water pump, t belt and thermostat.. so shocks are going to have to wait

Bilstein 5150's all the way around, and I love them.

I have the Bilstein HDs I hate it. Ride is way too harsh for my taste. Less body roll and tighter cornering...but I'd rather have the plush factory ride now....

How do you know when you need shocks on a Tacoma? The suspension is so stiff I can't tell by pushing down and trying to make it bounce. Is there a true test you can do to find out? My Tacoma has about 87,000 and it doesn't feel any different to me then when I got it but I may just be used to the way it rides.
It hits bottom if I hit a deep hole fast but most of the time it's stiff riding off and on road. Mike

I just looked at that site and I'm more confused now. I've been searching though these treads on shocks for when I replace mine. It hasn't helped.
