We have finally made up our minds to spend around 15,000 on a used 4runner. We want a sport edition, preferably a 2002 model year. What should I look at owners? What things wear on these, or are common known problems? What colors does the sport edition come in? We like blue around here.

 

I found 3 that I am interested in and will take a day this weekend to go look at them and drive them. All want more than 15 grand. Only one is a sport edition. Still not sure what all the differences are. Help?

What part of the country are you located in? A blue Sport is tough to come by here in AL...even the entire South for that matter. I don't see that many of them at all. I searched nationwide for 5 mons for a blue Sport w/ low, low miles this time last year and ended up settling for a silver one instead. Good luck with your hunt, the '02 was a good year for the Sports IMO

As far as wear/tear and common problems go, it's a Toyota...what else can I say. Not really any major problems or common issues; just drive it and take care of it, and you should get your money's worth out of it. When you get ready to buy, go over it w/ a fine tooth comb like you would any other vehicle just to make sure something is not dreadfully wrong with it.

You said the 3 you were looking at were all over $15K. What kind of mileage and options do they have?
