Hy all,
Im shure that this has come up before but I didnt get wind of it! My new used 89' 4x4 P/U is really letting me know that it is in pane when I peg the wheels and role over anything other than flat concrete!?!:pat: The noise is a deep creek or grone or maby even a creek or skrunch (please help)! I had a buddy with this same problen to a lesser extent but he rolled his truck before we got arround to fixing it! So anyone with the fix, I need your help?

i have the same sound. i crank the wheel, and go up bumps or wat not, and i get this metal to metal groan. it sounds bad, but its not. i dunno the correct names of the parts, but if you look at you IFS with your wheels cranked to once side, you'll see that there are these "bolts" that hit another piece of metal that limits the wheel from turning anymore. Usually, there are caps that go on the end so its not metal to metal. but they wear off and then the creekin begins. i called a few 4wheel parts stores and told them my problem, and they explained it to me. i spent some time under my truck, and noticed it. u will see on that "piece of metal" that there are rub marks. Just find some plastic caps and put them on the bolts. i think you can get original parts from Toyota.
sorry for my non technical terms
i'd post pics, but i dont have my digi cam. ill try to do it 2morrow.

I've always just called them "Points"
I think the technical term for them is Steering Points or something like that. An alternative to getting rubber covers is to just put a glob of grease on each one. That's what I've done, and it lasts quite a while.

They're called wheel stops. You can go to the dealer and buy new caps for them. It's a little plastic cap that fits over the end of the peg. You can also grease them or take the old ones off and turn them around. They only wear on one side. That might get you by for a few months.
