What is the best 4runner for under $10K ???

I am upgrading from our '88 4Runner and want to spend under $10K. What are the best model years to look for?

Thanks!
Michael

any 3rd gen you can find

Just make sure that if you plan on mods or repairs at all that you factor that in. You could find a nice one for $8k and spend the other $2k on whatever I suppose (tires, stereo, tune-ups...etc).

150,000+ miles '99, maybe.
You would be better off adding $2-3k and getting half the miles, less maintenance and repair costs, and it might actually sell for more than $5 after you add some miles on to it.

This one is sweet. Pretty much all the things you want to add (mods, of course) already done. I'm sure some people enjoy doing the mods but getting it all and not have to pay for them seems pretty good to me...

No ÅÅÅÅ... I couldn't imagine ever wanting another 4 runner besides my gen 1... unless it was a gen 1 with a straight axle but that's easy enough to fix eh...

That said, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess family reasons are spuring you towards 4 doors??? Kids playing soccer??? otherwise, spend the 10k on a sweet engibne swap and a drivetrain beef up... damn with 10k to sperad around, my gen 1 would be KILLING IT!!!

Thanks for the suggestions... seems like '99's and Gen 1's are the vote. I have an '88 w blown head gasket and 273K miles, body is kind of beat up. Love it but can't justify dumping money into it with those miles so looking to move on up to a later model year.

If it's your daily driver then go for the 3rd gens and enjoy a little more creature comforts.

I would say for a daily driver, I would get a 3rd gen. For a toy, I would buy a built first gen.
