telling someone to "tread lightly" around the plot of a new SUBDIVISION, is sort of pointless, seeing as how a 4runner is not going to do any more damage than the 50 bulldozers that are fixing to dig up the place in order to cover it in concrete.

EXACTLY

{Tread lightly spokesman} "Sir, please use caution while operating your backhoe during the developement of this once beautiful recreational area."

{Backhoe Operator} "Uh, Yeah. Hey bud... can you move your subaru forester out of my way and kindly unchain your wife off that tree? It's gotta come down..."

may father was a 3rd gen builder, and on those exact type of "URBAN TRAILS" is where I learned to Drive. I understand the guys comment....but he did not state his argument at the right time. IF Andy had been Wheelin across the last refuge for the endangered BOOBIE BIRD, and it was clearly POSTED. Then his arguement is valid. However....the reality is that Andy was looking at property with his girlfreind(possibly future wife) and got a little stuck. Doing what any redblooded American would do.....Heck with the 4x4...and guns it...succesfully becoming UNSTUCK.

I have....and will continue the SEARCH FOR PROPERTY in newly Developing areas. UNLESS its clearly marked, cuz thats illegal.

By the way...most of that WAS Sarcasm, with a hint of creativeness.

That's what I was thinking.

I agree with 4route, BBB, and flecker. It's all going to be plowed up anyways so what's the harm?

"tread lightly" means more than treading lightly. don't be so literal. it means wheel responsibly.

and yes i've done my share of illegal wheelin and not so light treading. it happens to everyone. i've learned my lesson, and now i'm careful about it. [this is not directed at anyone but...] don't think you're so cool for being a rebel. just be responsible. it's good for you and the sport in the long run.

that said ayoung...i'm glad you had some fun wheelin, that's what it's about. everyone has to learn slowly but surely.

If we didn't flame him, how would he know it's not OK to drive through construction sites?

I can honestly say I've never wheeled in any places I shouldn't have been, with the exception of one place that is abandon land that everyone wheels on, including the owner. I have never just cruised through a construction site and drove into some mud. What's the point?

The sign in the window said "long haired freaky people need not apply", so I tucked my hair up under my hat and went in to ask him why? He said, you look like a fine upstanding young man... you'll do just fine! So I took off my hat and said imagine that... Me workin' for you!

Edit: for you youngins' there is a point there...
