ok im not sure how to explain this but the noise is coming from the front end of my friends '90 Runner 4x4. Ive taken the front left wheel off and see no obvious signs of anything. the sound is more of a rubbing sound more that metal against metal. i took the Runner for a drive tonight and got it to do the noise. It doesnt start right away and goes away when you get below 10mph. it starts and stops when you hit good size bumps. when you turn or swerve left or right it doesnt change and the sound gets faster as you go faster and slower as you go slower. i did find a torn cv boot on that side which is gonna have to be replaced, but could that have something to do with this noise? Any advice would be great . Thanks

I bet the torn CV boot might be doin it...but if not...does it happen when the wheel is locked right or left. There are steering stops down by the wheel that often get worn down to bare metal...I have to regrease mine about every month or so. VERY annoying...if thats not then I don't know what it could be.
