Water is the devil. Avoid it if you can until you get a snorkel. There isnt much worse than doing something stupid like plowing through some muddy water to show off to your buddies...and then breaking a couple rods causing thousands of dollars of damage. And all you have to show for it is this hunk of junk sitting in your basement:

Ok...so did your Yota make it through that Jeep hole, right before your buddy tried it?

I've seen auto trannies take a lot of punishment, but dirt on the inside usually plugs up the tiniest passages and brings the curtain to a close.

That's maybe the only thing I worry about with our 4runner being an auto. Maybe it's time to extend that vent, eh?

I didn't even try the mud hole. I knew I couldn't make it because I'm pretty low and I have AT tires. We had to really goad the guy to go in the mud pit!

I recently extended my transfer case, but I can't really find anything for the tranny. Course, I didn't look too hard though.

This is too deep...

Moved the timing belt over two teeth on the bottom sproket (but lucky for me it didn't change the cam timing ) Punctured my radiator, alternator needs to be rebuilt, interior smells like dirt. Electric seat needed to be gutted and cleaned and the alarm was toast. Never again...

Turboale,

Yeah, I'd say that is way too deep!

It looks like the mud dragged your truck to a complete stop and then the water had a chance to do its thing..

The hole that I drove through was more of a "water hole" with mud in it.. The "hole" in that picture of yours looks more like a thick, muddy mess; the kind of mud hole that requires large tires and a ton of horsepower..

Hope everything turns out alright.
