Warn power interrupt kit tip

[IMG][/IMG]

I just installed mine today. The installation was a piece of cake. You guys might be interested in the way I wired it. The kit comes with a switch so ugly you couldn't pay me to mount it in my truck. Unless you mount it under the dash or somewhere completely out of sight, you need to look for other options.

I looked around the truck and discovered that my ECT switch was a perfect candidate. I popped it out and started testing the wires. I was looking for the wire that came alive when the switch was engaged. It turned out to be the solid white wire (2nd gen). Since the ECT switch is already powered and grounded, all I had to do was splice one of the wires that came in the kit to the white wire and run it straight to the solenoid. I ran it under the carpet and through the firewall keeping it completely out of sight. It worked out perfectly.

Now my winch will not work until the ECT button is engaged and the key is in the "on" position. And of course, the ECT still functions properly. I love it when a plan comes together.

Kewl idea on using the ECT switch.
You probably saw my Warn Power Interrupt write-up, and saw the Hella switch I used leftover from my Hella 500s.

Yes, that switch Warn supplies is a joke.

Enjoy the new found peace and tranquility of knowing pucks can not activate your winch now when you are not around.

I highly recommend this unit to all who have a winch with the solenoid box not under the hood, and exposed like ours are.

thanks chicken lover for the idea

although I am a 3rd gen-the idea is adaptable.

Although I am a 5 speed I have an ECT switch included with radio bezel piece for my upgraded woodgrain interior from a Limited

thanks for talking this out for my benefit and Corey's if no one else.

People do search and find! these threads never die thanks goodness.

Good idea, can't see the pic though . I just keep my main power cable to the winch disconnected until I need it. So, I'm a little slower getting the winch going, unless I connect it up as I head out to wheel.
