Warm Starting Issue w/Video

This has been going on for about 2 years now. Always starts fine when cold but say I come home and come back out in an hour to restart. Turns over, catches but not fully and then shuts off. usually starts fine on the second attempt until the other day when it cranked for a while. Didn't think it was going to start. Battery, plugs, maint. is all up to date. BTW this only happens 3-4 times per month.

2001, 6cyl, AT, 4WD, 112K miles.

I'm sure your truck is still on the original fuel filter. Pretty cheap to install a new one and see if things change.

Actually forgot about that. Will get one ordered. Any other thoughts?

Update. 119K miles and the issue is still around but now it is getting worse. Sometimes it cranks for a while and struggles to catch. New plugs, air filter, fuel filter, battery in last two weeks. Always top tier gas and Techron fuel injection cleaner.

Crank position sensor or temp sensor or something else.

In case anyone is even looking at this thread (besides aowRS) the problem was a dirty throttle body. $58 and the idle is perfect. Time will tell if that was the starting issue.

All three of my 5VZ-fe's with KM's ranging from 450,000km's to 140,000km's take a few more cranks than your giving yours to catch properly as well as many that I have worked on, I've cleaned TB's and MAS, new plugs, wires, coils, timing check, T-belt replacement and they all do the same thing, this never bothered me as it always started after 4-6 revolutions, so I chalked it up as the nature of the beast, I have gotten the odd 2 revolution start that shocked & appalled me though so I wouldn't worry about it your chasing a ghost.
