OK, now I am a tad confused.

Are you sayiing that you have the red wire of the FTC connected to a wire that has a function code of E2? E2 should be a ground wire and it should not work that way.

The walbro fuel pump on my 99 has been working flawlessly since the initial fix.
3.4Runner,

Thanks you. So one more time, I take the wire going from FTC to pin E16 and connect it to ECU pin E2, right? I would take the voltmeter and make sure that E2 is hot when it needs to be.

So what do you think about Gadget's comment here, any thoughts?

Cheers.

I can't speak for 3.4Runner, but I connected the red wire of the FTC to the "E" block on the ECU (block labeled E14 on my wiring diagram) to pin #2. Looking at the block it is the second pin on the top row (from the left). It is a black wire with a blue tracer. I verified that is has power when the ignition is in the ON position (even when disconnected from the ECU). On my wiring diagram it shows that this is power that comes from the IGN. This is a 2000 4Runner. Hope this helps.

So far, no surging.

btw - I did confirm the FTC was actually working by connecting the serial cable and read/wrote info to the FTC and drove while collecting boost, RPM, etc.

OK, my fault.

I was thinking you were using function codes and not plug and pin numbers. Function E2 is a sensor ground. Plug E pin 2 is in the schematic book is the one you are speaking of.

Got it.

Thanks for sorting this out. I will make the correction on our install guides.

Yup, exactly right. Been working perfectly for me, and looks like derrick has done it too (and confirmed the same wire on the 2000 wiring diagram, black with blue tracer is the same wire color for ECU pin E2 (IGN) on both 99 and 2000 4Runners).

you can also run that wire all the way to the IGN fuse in the fusebox next to the driver's leg. that solved the issue for me months ago.

I just wanted to thank you guys for solving this surging problem. I re-wired the FTC Red wire to pin E2 over the weekend and It's great not hear that clicking and surging anymore.

Cheers.

I have a "toyota" supra fuel pump on my WRX. Its a 255lph pump and it whined for like a week after we put it on but it quit and I haven't heard it since. Umm.... The reason we went with that pump over the walbro 255 is because a lot of people have had problems out of it but I think thats just the 255

The stock pump on the Supra is silent. It is a Denso turbine pump. It also flows more the 255 LPH. Let me know if you want a second one.
