V1 install in an 03.

Hello everyone. Just bought a black v8 limited. Wondering if anyone has a V1 hardwire install. I can post pictures once I figure out how. Thanks in advance.

Alex,

I hardwired my V1 in my '98 3rd gen. I'm sure it's different but at least you can get the concept. http://www.4runners.org/articles/valentine

I also highly recommend installing an auxiliary 12v fuse box.

I have been looking at the same. I am concerned about running a power wire down the A-pillar since they house airbags. So, currently I stretch my power cord to the accessory plug next to the shifter.....what a crock.

I was thinking about tapping into a power source for the maplights or homelink. I have seen similar installs on an E46 BMW that has the same type of console w/ lights and homelink. This would make a nice install if you can tuck it all up in there and then have the unit nice and high in the windshield.

If you figure this out....pleeeeeze take some pics for a DIY for the mechanically challenged...like myself.

Check out this link for the E46 DIY Install.

Dude,

I checked out the link and it looks similar in principle to my install w/ the exception that he tapped some 12v accessory light. While its true that the higher you mount your V1, the better, I don't like it where he located his b/c I like to *use* my visor!

That said, if you want to do what this BMW guy did, take a look at my write up here: http://4runners.org/articles/sound/headliner.html

Look at Step 6 and you'll get an idea on how to remove your dome light assembly. This is for a 98 4Runner.

Thanks,
Bob
