Damn, I would install all those mods for $300 any day of the week. Hell, if Gadget can ramp up the number of kits, maybe he can assist me in quitting my full time job!!

Anyone else out there with a report on the URD performance upgrade kit? Any tips on installation would be appreciated!

I installed my URD kit two months ago by myself (+ my body helped) and I couldn't be happier with the results. Since then I have bought a OBDII Diag. to fine tune the FTC so now my ST/LT fuel trim is near zero.

Here is the web site, and you need a laptop to run it.

Sorry to highjack this thread but I noticed some senior members are present. After battling several months of hard starts on my ’97 4runner I finally found the problem to be a frayed ground wire. So to those having hard warm starts with the 305cc injectors I would also quadruple check your connections to the ECM. Unfortunately my problems continue…
After trying every imaginable wiring connection to have the SAFC, ESC, and TMC work harmoniously…I give-up. The end result is an annoying and sometimes dangerous occasional engine stall. Anyhow, I’ve decided to sell the SAFC/ESC/TMC and buy an FTC1E or SMT.
Before someone else inherits my problems…namely my friend’s supercharged 96’ Tacoma…I was hoping to address questions based on installation of these units. I have the wiring instructions (authored by Gadget) for all 3 items. The instructions are extremely easy to follow but it seems to address only each item’s specific install (unless there are supplementary instructions I’m not aware of). This is my biggest concern because all three wiring diagrams instruct that you tap into the same power and ground wires from the ECU. I know first hand that this set-up doesn’t work. It resulted in drivability problems and finger burns (repeated soldering gun use). I ultimately ditched the TMC and have been using the SAFC and ESC exclusively. However, even with just these two units I had to install the ESC on a separate power and ground wire for the truck to run correctly.
So here’s the question in a nutshell….
For those who ran a similar set-up as mine and had success…did you have all three items use the same power wires on the ECU? If not, can you suggest a different wiring schematic?
I’m 90% convinced that it’s my truck that’s the problem. I’d like to give my friend just a little assurance that this set-up should work provided the install (based on your input) is handled in a certain manner.
Thanks for all your suggestions,
Michael
