Update on 3.0L head gasket campaign
Probably not a surprise to anybody, but here's confirmation about the 89 3.0 engines. I got this email a couple days ago saying the recall has expired for the 89's :
I recently purchased an 89 4Runner with the 3L V6 and I thought I would contact Toyota to see about the head gasket service campaign and this is the response that I got from them…

The 1989 Toyota 4Runner V6 had an extension of the warranty on the head gasket, and not a full recall. This extension has since expired.

I got more or less the same response from Toyota when I contacted them about my '88 4Runner with the 3.0. The did tell me that my VIN was early enough that my 3.0 was never involved in the special service campaign. They also told me that the campaign ended in November for the 90-95?
