University of Toyota info on 2003 4Runner

I was looking for more detailed information on the V8 and came across this file. Did a search to see if it has been posted before and nothing came up. Seems interesting, more detail than in the brochure or owners manual.

Actually, it was posted here last year. It was a big deal because Toyota wanted Corey to take it down because the 4runner info wasn't supposed to be released at that time. I think it's OK now.

That's pretty nice...

Someone post a link on how to disengage the DRL on the '03 and I'll wet myself.
The dealership won't tell me how and wants $75 to do it for me.

4th gen link

This first link is an off road test of Jon's (TooEZgoin) rig.

At the bottom is a link to a huge pile of pics, and there are links in there for the PDF files on page two of the pictures, then even more pics from a member here.

Put some Depends on! This is an educated guess, I haven't tried it yet, but believe it'll work. What appears to be the DRL relay is the approx 3"X2"X1" finned aluminum cube directly behind the main fuse box and in front of the master cylinder. There's only one connector going into it. Unplug the connector and let us know if it worked AND whether you still have functional front directional signals. The cube looks exactly like the DRL relay in my IS300 and that's the trick to disabling them in that car.

I wonder if that 4.0 V6 will be able to fit in an older 3rd,2nd, or 1st gen 4runner. A couple of reviewers actually liked the performance of the v6 over the v8.

I bought the v8 mostly because of the 5 speed. Toyota really messed up by not using the 5 speed with the v6. My rule: "the less amount of engine torque, the more you need gearing to make up for it."

On a side note, I was following an 03 4Runner down to LA last week in my Acura TL-S and the 4Runner punched it. I had the Acura floored to keep up with the 4Runner up to 100 mph so the v8 pulls really well at highway speeds.

The 5A/T is coming in the V-6 within the next couple of years, according to the Chief Engineer.

Did you see the numbers Carpoint pulled on their test V-8? 0-60 in 7.4, a 15.7 quarter mile, a top end of 124, and 0.78g on the skidpad! Plenty of Sport, hopefully as much utility, but since it's a rebadged Land Cruiser Prado, I'd think so.
