Unexpected lift issue, resolved
I put a 1.5" RB BL on yesterday afternoon. The hobby shop where I do most of my work closes at 6pm, and seeing as I got there at 3:15, I had to hurry. It was a very simple job. The hardest part was getting the damn rusted bolts off the steering rag joint to put in the extension. I also put on the front bumper brackets (which make the bumper look perfect with the lift). I finished up, and went to put the truck in reverse (I have a 5spd) and nothing. I couldn't get in in gear. I also couldn't get it in 2nd or 4th. Well, I angrily drove home using 1st 3rd and 5th, and decided to tackle the issue in the am. This morning I went out and took out my center console and shifter interference to see what was the issue. What it was was a steel bracket that houses the rubber boots that fit under the leather shifter sleeves. I just took out the bracket and trimmed it with a hacksaw. Now my truck works perfect, shifts great, and IMO looks like a 4runner should (~5" lift). Ill wash it and snap some picks tomorrow. Now to find some 35s......
