Uh, now I'm confused (amsoil filter)

As my air filter is drying out and waiting to be re-oiled I am reading some of the posts. One person said when installing the amsoil air filter the mesh side should face towards the rear of the truck. But another said that the grill should face the rear and the foam towards the front of the truck, the oppsite of the first statment. Have I been running my truck with the filter backwards? I always had the mesh facing the front, so when you look at the top of the filter you can read the name Amsoil on the top right hand side. :confused:

Same as above. My mesh faces the rear of the vehicle, spongy side faces front.

I believe the metal mesh holds the filter against the force of the air, and is therefore on the output side of the filter.

Air ----input---->>> filter:metal mesh ----output---->>> Engine
