Tweeter mounts for 90 runner

Does anyone know if the stock tweter mounts (front doors opposite the rear view mirrors) for any toyota truck will fit into a 1990 4 runner? I have seen the factory mounts in other vehicles, but i havent had a chance to se if they will fit into my doors. I was hoping to find a pair of these to save myself the headache of fabricating my own. Has anyone tried this fit? Did they even make tweeter mounts for the 2nd gens? Will tweeter mounts from more recent gens fit into the same place? Funny, i work in the car stereo field, and i cant seem to get this question answered with a definite response. I figured it's be an easy answer, yes or no. Even my Stealer cant give me a reliable answer. Thanx.

I was looking at this location for mine too. I don't think it's a real good place due to the way the driver's side dash blocks that side. If they were both like the passenger side, then I think it would work great. Get out the fiberglass - kickpanels are probably the best solution for good imaging!!

On my '91 Runner, I mounted my MB Quart tweets on the door panel right below the vinyl/plastic "window sill". I wanted an installation that didn't require cutting and messing up the door panels but wanted the tweets high enough so they could be heard. (I'm at work so I can't show a picture, but here's a written description). For each, I used a piece of metal stereo back strapping (the Erector Set looking metal strips with holes in it) that is bent so it would go through a slit cut between the vinyl window sill part of the door panel and the tweed fabric portion. I mounted the upper end of the strap to the back of the door panel and the tweeter to the end sticking down. I fished the tweeter wires behind the tweets and up through the slit that the strap used to go between the sill and fabric portion of the panel. The strap length is short enouh so my tweeter housings hide the strap so it doesn't look cheesy. It all works well and looks "factory". Hopefully your tweets came with the angled portion for mounting so you can direct the angle that they fire. My Quarts are off axis tweets, so I just have them mounted with no angle mounts and they sound great.
