had the Tundra brakes installed today @ a shop,was going to do it myself with a friend's help but it's getting cold and is not fun to work in a car for a few hours in a cold weather. I picked my 4runner up and right away notice a vibration while driving and it's pretty bad when apply the brakes,it never did that with old brakes.I bought autozone calipers,Brembo rotors and OEM pads from dealership.went back to the shop and was told rotors are defective and told me if i get new ones they will replace them for me without charging me anything.I bought the Brembos from ebay and i will contact the seller and let's see what he say. but i wanted to ask you guys is it possible brand new Brembo rotors are defective?

 

Return your "Brombos" and next time buy from an authorized Brembo retailer... seriously though, don't trust any name brands on ebay

Defective, That sounds kinda of goofy to me.
Out of round, sounds more like it, hence peddle pulsation.
I would bet most rotors sold on the internet are Chinese made and shipped in massive quantities via cargo containers.
I'm sure there is a fair share that get dropped and just banged around.
Back in the day we turned new rotors to insure they were true (no run out)

ok guys i contacted the seller and he offer a refund. now this is the deal,while driving i pulled the e-brake and brakes started to shake same way they do when i press the brake pedal. now my question is Is it possible that the vibration comes from the rear? drums and shoes are brand new (autozone) could bad rotors cause this.i wonder if rotors are fine and the problem is the drums or maybe both.4runner shakes at highway speeds as if the wheels are out of balance but i know they are balanced because i got new tires and balaced them few weeks ago and it was smooth before the brake install

 

ok guys i'm going to the shop this morning to deal with this problem,like i said before first i thought i had bad rotors but now i'm not sure because when i pull the e-brake while driving i feel the vibration and i think it could be bad rotors .is it possible? they are brand new. oh and the rear right drum i think is dragging,always hot and smells like brakes

Sounds like you picked a winner of a shop. No more ebay crap parts.

With out any pictures...or knowledge of the install itself...we have nothing to go on here...how can we know what is wrong?

Make the shop fix it. Next time let us walk you through the brakes job yourself.

Remember...the auto techs that got d's in school....are working on cars somewhere.

Dont pull ebrake while driving. Its for parking.

 

yes i will make the shop fix it but it may not be their fault it could be bad parts just trying to give the shop the benefit of the doubt.let's see how it turns out. no i don't use e-brake while driving i was only trying to see if it was vibration coming from the rear

 

that's right no more ebay crap parts for me.just trying to hear from you guys all the possible problems that could be causing this,don't want to return rotors and then find out that wasn't the problem.shop open @ 10 am today and i will be there before they open i will let you guys know how it goes

 

It's possible one of the rotors just didn't seat on the hub properly? Maybe a little bit of crud between the two.

Unless they messed with the rear brakes it's likely not a related issue. Did it get cold where you live? Could be an old water logged e-brake cable freezing up.

returned Autozone drums and shoes and got new ones installed from Napa,shop Said vibration is from the rear but still has the same vibration

 

well definetly the problem is in the rear,installed new drums and shoes from Napa and is better but still vibrating a little while braking but it doesn't vibrate anymore when driving,it use to vibrate around 65-70 mph even without braking.Question is with new drums and shoes what could be causing this? could the drums be bad? this is the second pair i buy.thing are better but still have the problem. need help guys

 

get your tires balanced, try that first. only time you will feel a bad vibration from brakes is when you are braking. so it's something else causing the vibration.

 

Tires are new and balanced,only feel vibration when braking and i had no problem before brake job,with the 2Nd pair of drums i bought things are a lot better but still vibrate a little

 

can you use the old drums? if yes, try reusing them to see if the vibration still occurs

 

The old drums should last the life of the truck. Get them trued up at a machine shop. At this point i would also replace the rear cylinders as well.

 

I'm going back to the shop to get the old drums and try to find a machine shop,The wheel cylinders are new too

 

Call them this morning. They may have trashed them already. I use Carquest to cut my drums and rotors. It was $6-$12 per.

 

ok guys i went and picked up the old drums and had them turned @ NAPA. will install them monday and i'll let you know how it goes
