TT 4Runner?
#2
I think that is Tragerr's (posts on ODW) Twin Turbo 4Runner (Gadget would know for sure). I seem to remember some posts on ODW about f2uning. I'm pretty sure Tragerr has the twin turbo and NW4Runner has the centrifugal supercharger (a little lower on the page).

The TT 4Runner is currently not running. They had a problem with the headgaskets holding up under high boost and needed to come up with thier own high tech design. Since the heads where coming off to do redo the headgaskets, the owner decided to go crazy with some real cutting edge head work. This is way beyond porting such, but includes some really unusual valve shapes and other stuff you just can not believe. He sold the heads he had to NW 4Runner for use on the supercharged 4Runner project which incorporated the new head gasket design which has proven to hold up to high boost, so that part has been prefected.
Now, this fancy head work was going to be done by one shop with all this high tech CNC milling equipment, but there was a falling out between the sons of the two companies and now they are not on speaking terms.
Now the TT 4Runner is sitting with no cylinder heads. A deal is in the works to have another shop do the high end work, but don't expect it soon. There is only few shops in the country that can do this high end stuff and the are all booked up doing heads for the race teams like F1, CART and so on. So, the TT is just sitting there for now. It is really sad. I wish he would just put on some stock heads and drive it until the high tech ones are ready.
So, that is the current status as I know it.

Thanks you guys. Thats why I frequent this site. You guys seem to have all of the info.
I agree with you Gadget, put some stock heads on it and drive the GD'd thing. A SC is as far as I'll ever get, or ever want to go with mine.
Thanks again.

Sweet
has anyone put a TT on a 4.7L engine cause right now the TRD SC sits in my room cause the only Toy dealer that is TRD capable wants me to buy 1 from them at 5700 and then pay 100 bucks labor:cry: freakin bastards
Im gonna put it on myself and if anything goes wrong Im taking it off
If a TT is a better option maybe I'll go that route
might as well throw the warranty and the 800 dollar extended warranty down the drain, truck is starting to feel slow
Their is an engine shop about 10 minutes from my house that does all the Nascars, Indy cars, etc...

What...you don't?
Seriously, Blue is right. For the price of that prototype TT system you can buy another V8 supercharger and have your dealer install it and still have a good chunk of change left over. Exact price, I'm not sure. It is still increasing based on Gadget's earlier post.

Hell, if I had the cash to burn and the know-how to apply, I'd be doing the same exact thing.
I get more of my kicks from working on my truck and seeing the final outcome. Of course, I like to drive when I'm done but I enjoy the work more.
yeah, call me weird.

Edge, what did you pay for the SC and where did you get it? I have looked at sites that are offering around 3998. As I was reading, I noticed their numbers appeared to be wrong. They're saying the v8 produces 239 ft/lbs of torque at 5200. I thought it was 320 @ 4800 rpms in the 8 (Edmunds)?? I will leave the sites un-named for now, but there are two in particular, same thing. What kind of torque gain and HP gain are you expecting?
I am.................well........................... .... Confused!:pat:

I bought it from this site toyotaparts4u.com, put it on my Credit Card and have not received the bill yet, I paid $3,997.00 I don't even think I was charged tax, sweet when having something shipped from another state.
Thats what their site says in the details, right now I know 2 guys with Lightings that are gonna help me with the Performance mod end cause I never really tweaked a car before.
Im still undecided cause I know several guys who have highly modified cars and don't drive them cause they say they changed, they all have other cars that they drive daily plus im tryin to see if I can find a Tundra owner with an SC to drive for comparision.

Features Multiple Spark Discharge that aids combustion efficiency at all RPM's. Up to a 50% increase in horsepower (maximum gain is 235 HP vs. 353 HP at 5200 RPM) Up to a 50% increase in torque (maximum gain 239 lb.-ft. vs. 359 lb.-ft. at 5200 RPM) Torque increases 32% at 2800 RPM Boost pressure: up to 7 psi.
