Truck throwing multiple codes

The following lights have been coming on:

1. brake light
2. VSC trac
3. VSC off
4. ABS

It only happens sometimes when I first start up, and then they stay on. But if you turn the truck off, and turn it back on the lights go away.

Like I said before i only happens sometimes. No problems with the brakes. The ABS still kicks in when it needs to. VSC still works too when needed. I checked the brake fluid and its fine. I went to the dealer today for an oil change, and he wanted $98 just to check it. I told him forget it and just do the oil change. Any suggestions would be helpful

thanks guys

Unfortunately, all that is integrated into one system (yes we have discussed this before in the Tundra Sequoia thread...but they all work intermingled togther). If it is throwing codes like that, you might try an OBD II scanner, I was repairing one time a 2001 Celica GTS that had a ABS light come on and I was able to diagnoise it with the scanner (faulty rear ABS wheel speed sensor, and it was just simply unplugged), if it does throw the codes back up, go to an Autozone and see if they can pull the codes for you...no promises though that this will work.

Where is the cheapest place to get an OBD II scanner?

Also if I take it to autozone, what do I ask them to do? Cause every time I have gone there and asked for help the guy behind the counter knows less then me. :pat:

Tell him you need the OBD codes pulled for your truck.
Just hooks up right under the dash to the OBD port.

If autozone no longer does it then you may need to buy a reader.

lmao... , I sometimes have the same problem if I go downtown to buy parts, just don't go to the getto stores, see if you can find an auto parts store in the suburbs area of your town.

sdastg1,

I had a 2000 Avalon that on start up at times would
have all these lites on:

brake light
VSC trac
VSC off
ABS

If I shut engine off and then restarted it was fine, or if I
reset the computer it was fine for a few months. Just before I
sold the car I found out there is a TSB on this problem with
the Avalon. You might check AllData .

Hope this helps.

Ray

Here is the TSB on the Avalon.
