trouble accessing U-joint zerk

has anyone else here had a problem accessing the zirk behind the bolt on the u-joint (2000 tacoma xcab here)? its the rear-most zirk on the drive line (if i remember correctly). here's a picture of it: http://4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenanc...ble_cardan.jpg

just wondering if there's an easy way, or if i need to remove that bolt to get my gun on the zirk.

also, has anyone counted all the zirks? i counted 3 on the front drive line and 6 on the rear. ditto?

thanks in advance- bk

i don't have your model truck, but do you have a flexible hose attached to your grease gun or do you use the stiff end? i had to get a flexible hose to attach as it made greasing a lot better.

On my 91 runner I find it easiest to jackup one wheel and turn the drive shaft until I can access all the zerks.

on my 89 front (double cardan) I have to turn the driveshaft just right to get it in there, but it will snap on and take grease.

I use a mini grease gun that takes the small 3" tubes of grease. The head fits in there perfectly, but I need to hold it in there when pumping the handle.
