I Really Need Some Help With My Lift Setup... I Have The Tundra Coil Setup W/ Tokiko Trekmasters & Topout Spacer In The Front And The Ome N86c With 906 Coils In The Rear. It Has Only Been 10 Months Since I Have Installed It. The Ride Is Awful. When I Just Go Over A Speed Bump, It Feels Like The Front End Is Not Absorbing Any Of The Shock. It Bounces Over The Speed Bump. When I'm Driving On The Streets And Run Over A Crack In The Road, The Car Shakes. Before I Purchased All Of This, I Was Under The Impression This Setup Rode Pretty Good. Is This How It's Suppose To Ride? Maybe I'm Wrong. Someone Tell Me... Are The Tokiko Trekmaster Too Stiff Of A Shock For This Setup?? Would The Ome N91sc Or Tundra Shocks Produce A Softer Ride In The Front? I'm An Everyday Street Driver That Doesn't Go Offroading Much. All I Want Is A Better Ride Than What I Have Right Now..... Please Help...

 

Sounds to me like that Toicko shock is too short, and it's limiting its ability to travel and soak up the bumps. Did it just start riding rough?

 

it's not about the shock length as much as it's about the shock stiffness.

do you have a front ARB/TJM or anything else of weight up front? that helps to smooth out mine a bunch as well.

the trekmasters may be stiffer than the OME, and if they are, then that's your problem.

w/ the ARB bumper and WARN winch w/ the OME's in the front, i'm super soft and cushy, so i imagine w/ the less weight (only 100# or so total difference) you'd still be pretty nice. i really think the firmness is from the shocks.

you can also get the blue trd tundra shocks and use them up front for a nice ride as well.

 

When I Bought The Trekmasters, I Asked Them For The Ones That Fit The 97 4runner. Was I Suppose To Get The Ones That Fit The Tundra Since I Have The Tundra Coils??

 

I Have A Stock Bumper With Nothing Up In The Front To Weigh It Down. So Would You Recommend The Trd Tundra Blue Shocks Or The Ome N91sc For My Situation? Will The Ome N91sc Give Me The More Plush Ride As They Say With My Tundra Coil? If I Go With The Trd Blue Shocks, Where Can I Buy Those And What Is The Model #? I Like The Way A Stock Trd Tundra Rides. By Going With The Blue Shock And My Tundra Coil, Will I Attain A Ride Like That??

 

well, there's info in the TRD Tundra Lift thread, so i won't regurgitate it here.

the TRD blue ones are from a TRD DC TACOMA, not a tundra.

the ome's are nice. i haven't personally used the TRD DC Tacoma shocks, but other's have and like them.

when you step out into uncharted territory, you may or may not get good results. i hate that you're having issues, but when you mess w/ the recipe, you might not get what you want.

 

Can You Personally Say The Ome N91sc Will Ride Well With The Tundra Coil? I Want To Be Sure This Time. Can The Ome Shock Handle A Tundra Coil? Like I Was Saying Before I Like The Ride Of A Stock Tundra. By Going With What You Said In Your Trd Tundra Forum Of Installing The Trd 4x2 Red Shocks W/ The Tundra Coil, Will I Get That Kind Of Ride I'm Looking For? I Only Have One Concern With The Dc Trd Tacoma Shocks Suggestion. The Tundra And Tacoma Are 2 Different Trucks By Weight And Size. How Can A Shock Made For A Tacoma Handle A Coil Made For A Bigger And Heavier Truck?? It Seems Like It Wouldn't Be Proportionate To One Another. I Apparently Made The Mistake Once Of Buying A Shock For A 4runner And Obviously It Does Not Compliment A Tundra Coil.. I'm Not Trying To Be Argumentative, I Just Don't Want To Keep Changing Things. Why did'nt you just use the OME N91s in the first place?

 

Because Everyone Was In The Forums Were Saying The Ome N91sc Was Too Soft Of A Shock For A Tundra Coil... Thats Why... I'm A Newbie To This So I Take What People Say Into Consideration If They Really Know What They Are Talking About...

 

the softer the shock, the softer the ride cause there's less resistance to motion...

the OME n91s that i have make my heavy runner ride like a stock TRD tundra.

the n91sc's should make your stock runner close to a stock TRD tundra - but no guarantees on that...

 

Which One Would You Choose Between The N91sc And The Trd Tundra Shocks?? If So Which Trd Tundra Shock Would You Go With?? I Know There Are Several Different Kinds And Colors You Mention On Your Forum....

what you need to know is that i don't have tundra 2wd TRD shocks on my runner anymore. i used to.

the OME n91s struts are WAY softer than the 2wd TRD Tundra shocks. the tockico blue 2002 Tacoma Double Cab TRD Shocks are supposedly about the same as the OME N91s struts. the OME N91sc (comfort) are softer than that.

Hi, I just putted on my 99 4wd 4runner limited brand new shocks from a 99 4wd tacoma extra cab, with off road package, the bilstein shock....

I am putting a daystay 2.5" lift aat the same time

the problem is, the bilstein tacoma shock are 1" longer that the 4runner shocks, the part from the lower bushing to the lower spring retainer is the same lenght, it's the shock rod that is 1" longer... I work at the toyota dealer, so I went to the parts dep, and we had another set of shock for a 99 4runner like mine, a 99 4wd tacoma w/o offroad package, and another set like I put on my 4runner from a off road package,

we compared the 3 shock, and the 2 tacoma ones, are 1" longer...

anyone aware of this?

I think I will have problems with these tacoma shock and my cv joint angle...
