Unhappy Transmission slipping problem - Any Help?

I have an intermittent transmission slip when coming off a dead stop. The transmission (or motor) seems to bog and barely move, then it finally will proceed after about 30 or 40 yards. The O/D light sometimes flickers on and off when I'm cruising along as well. I hope it's not a transmission failure happening. The trans fluid level is ok. I did haul a trailer two years ago and the trans overheat light came on a few times. I pulled over and cooled it down. Any suggestions out there would be appreciated...

thanks!
Frank

NOTE: I AM NOT A MECHANIC

If your A/T Temp light came on, it's possible that you did damage. POSSIBLE. I had a similar problem, so I got my transmission fluid exchanged (with a T-Tech machine). That solved all of my problems, to date. How long has it been since you had your tranny serviced. I bet it's overdue!

About that O/D light, I'd say have the codes pulled and see what they say.
