Still getting a Thud / Knock !!

Ok so heres what i have done so far.

Oil Change
Front rear & diff change
Trasfer case change
Transmission change

Yesterday i Lubed all the zerks on the drive shaft and u-joints.

Today still getting the same thud / knock noise. I do not think its the transmission at all.. Shifts very smooth. But it sounds and feels like its from the driveshaft of the axle.

Also i got about 25 miles from home with out it doing it. Once i got off the highway on back roads it started up again. I noticed it when i slowed down and when the car downshifted. But it also does the thud/knock when i accelerate usally right after the car downshifts.

What should i do now?

Thanks for everyone help!

Is your driveshaft dinged/bent a little? Is there any play in it if you put your hands on it and try to move it (not rotate it)

Question a little unrelated

soooo....my boyfriend changed my tranmission fluid today and it was definitely no longer reddish purple and it seems from reading posts that the fact that he changed it could be bad. AND his roommate who is a mechanic also said it was bad! = / What should i do? was this bad? I have a 95 toyota 4runner with 133k

Matt,
I had mine done today at Goss's Garage - it definately shifts smoother and the old fluid was nasty dark - 112,500 miles!

just had ny local shop guy take a look at it. The only thing he thinks might be wronge is that there may be too much play in the front drive/trans axle. He said jeeps have no play and wasent sure if the 4runners should?

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!!

i honestly do not think that there is anything wrong other than the typical thud most runners have! i wish they would figure out a fix and recall the SOB'S!!
at least you learned a few things along the way, right?

oh yeah i forgot to mention.. I took it in to the local toyota dealer last week who are super nice and very helpful... They looked it over and said it checked out fine.. Drive train/axles.. are fine.... They even went over all my grease fittings underneath just to make sure i did not miss any... I think the grease deffiantly helped.

They also told me to go back to the place i had my front and rear differentials drained and have them add a rear friction modifier in the rear. Which they did.

So for now.. every once and a while when i apply the brake it get a slight thud in the front axle is seems... Usally happens on my way to a complete stop...

Thanks for everyones help

Just a heads up.. My thud is comming from the front axle.. It also only thuds when i'm slowing down. Down hill or braking for traffic...For example when i'm going 50mph and sow down to 30 or 20mph.. Not when i come to a comlete stop... Is this the same issue??????

Hey, man i have the same issue with my 4Runner-a faint thud and only when slowing down for traffic light/stop and almost coming to full stop. But the "thud" go away after three to four stops-I think when the car warmed up. After that no more thud heard or felt. I've been lubing the driveshafts to the point that I even got good amount of grease splattered underneath. I've been able to live with it but sometimes it's really annoying thinking that something's not alright our there!
