The other day, I went to change my trans fluid and one i started cranking on the drain bolt i noticed it just spun... it didn't loosen or tighten, just spun. I searched online and found if you use a flat head screw driver as a lever to put pressure on the screw while you are wrenching it out the pressure will help it bight on the threads. Well, like an idiot i did this and only got it about 1/4 out Now i'm just leaking tranny fluid. I searched all the toyota truck dismantlers for a used tranny pan but to no avail. Anyone know where i can get one from? (besides the dealership). Or any other suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Get a pan off a toasted tranny. Shouldn't be that hard to find.
I scrapped one last month.

ya, theres lots of used trans at scrap yards you could find, if not, plenty of repair options...could drill it out and tap to a bigger plug if needed...

just tap the tranny pan and dye the bolt if it doesnt fit then get another bolt from your local hardware store

I had to fix this problem on a '97 once. I ended up drilling out the old bolt, tapping the pan, and using a new oversize bolt with a GM style rubber covered washer. WARNING: After the drilling and the tapping, use a magnet to grab all the metal crap that's right inside the hole of the pan. I cleaned mine real good, and got a decent amount of shavings out. Then after driving about 50 miles, I also went ahead and drained and refilled the trans fluid again.

Thanks for all the input guys. I emailed a couple salvage yards around here about blown trannies and pans, but I think i'm gonna try to tap and drill it first and if that doesn't work then i'll put some more effort into finding another pan. Any suggestions on how to tap the pan? I don't have any experience doing this, but i'm betting it can't be too hard and somewhat self explanatory right?

fyi, what ever you decide to do take the pan off of the trans to work on it, the idea of repairing the pan while attached to the trans is not very smart, I would go with drilling and tapping in a bigger drain plug, but its not easy to do a good job of that while upside down taking metal shavings to the face............
