Transfer case shifter hot?

I drove 4hrs recently at a speed of 75mph, all highway. Inadvertently, I touched the metal portion of the transfer case shifter. It was hot.

So, I know temperature will build up, but just wondering if you had same experience.

Yup that will happen

As long as your T-case fuid level is good, you're fine.

Thanks. I haven't done that before. Kinda freaked me out. Fluid level is fine, so all is well...

Yup, as Brian said, it will get hot. Condution from the motor through the tranny, to the t-case. As well as the friction in the gears causing it to warm up.
