Transfer Case Center Diff Lock Switch

Anybody ever replace the transfer case center diff lock switch while still in vehicle? If there is a trick to get to it please let me know. Only thing I have not tried is taking out the shifter and going through the top, but I don't think I can get to it that way.

Looks like my 4wd issue are with my center diff lock switch, always open even when in 4wd.

Thanks

the center diff lock switch is not an ordinary switch but is a solenoid switch activated by the transfer lever. when you move the lever to H4Lc or to L4Lc, the center diff lock switch is turned to the lock position. these solenoid switches are located on the transfer case so you'll have to go under the truck to get to them.

I understand that, I'm trying to take it out but there isn't room to get a wrench on it from underneath. Can't use a socket because of the plug, and does not appear to have access if I remove the shift lever and go through the top. The only way I see doing it is removing the transmission support and tilting the engine and trans at an angle. Other option is removing the transfer case completely. I'm sure I am missing something obvious, it can't be that hard to change.

All three of the switches can be reached from the top.

I used a 28mm wrench cut to about 3 inches long on the box and and the open end. I think the proper size is 27mm, but they come out easily. 28mm gives you a bit more room to turn it off and back on quickly.
