So my cousins truck has the old and outdated trailmaster 6in lift. He has the problematic trailmaster strut system and after blowing the struts going down the interstate and almost wrecking his truck a fabtech swap was in hand. Here is the write up.

Ok the writeup:
1.(one side at a time)loosen lug nuts, engage parking brake, place truck on jack stands so that the front suspension in not compressed
2. Remove tire place under truck in case it slips off jack stands
3. Remove cotter pin,castle nut, and 35mm hub bolt

4.Remove caliper bolts using 18mm zip tie out of the way
5. Remove 4 lower a arm bolts using 14mm

6.Remove bolts holding upper strut mount to 6in spacer

7. remove big bolt holding upper strut mount in it shoud come out now

8.Tighten bolts holding 6in spacer back down tight

9.Place upper arm in place and slide bolt though strut mount,tighten(19mm)

10.Tighten 4 14mm bolts on lower a arm
11.Install caliper back using 18mm bolts
12.tighten 35mm hub bolt,install castle nut, and cotter pin

13.put tire back on and remover jack stacks let truck rest on its own wieght. Consult your FSM and torque spec all bolts(do not torque spec while truck is in the air this must be done while truck is resting on its on weight)
14. Repeat 1-13 on the other side. Our donor knuckles already had hubs pressed in and knuckles connected to upper a-arms.If you are starting from scratch you will need to take your trailmaster knuckles to get your hubs pressed off and onto the new fabtech knuckles.

Yeah no kidding his front suspension was destroyed.The gold tacoma was mine i flipped it back in 08 and have been using it offroad but now im stripping it down. Its my donor truck for my 4runner. I was running a 6in fabtech 1in body and 37s on it

I don't like the way either of those lifts are set up. They just don't look stable neither one. Offroad increased COG with stock suspension travel seems like a recipe to flop. On the road they just don't seem like enough beef for the increase levelage and highway speeds.

Yeah neither of them are good but he bought the truck with the trailmaster lift already on it. You can't go back to stock once you go drop bracket so he just wanted to beef it up and the fabtech knuckles are pure beef.
