Trailer plugin wiring?
#1
I just bought a cheap wiring plugin kit for a trailer. The plug has 4 wires coming off of it Tail, Ground, Left Signal, Right SignalWhere do I plug these in... I have a 1990 4Runner SR5
I have the wires pulled underneath the rear on the left side theres a bunch of wires but I have no clue what to do.. I am pretty positive I know where to plug everything in except the right signal and the tail...
any help asap would be great im in the middle of this right now..

Assuming your runner has amber turn signals you will need to buy a converter connection (about 10 bucks at auto stores) that will allow a standard dual taillight trailer connection(4 plugs) to function properly with your truck(5 plugs)
You will probably need to do a Y harness on the brake lights from the truck to the connector/converter if I'm correct. I've never done complete trailer wiring before though.
The connector you buy will have 5 connections coming in and 4 for a standard trailer.
Have fun!

i did mine a while back, though it did have a horribly done setup on it already that i spent more time cutting out(full of spaghetti wires) than i did installing a new, functional converter. find the wires coming out of your tailights and probe them to find each wire. a good wire tester comes in handy
