I will be getting the 2.5 toytec lift shortly. I'm pretty mechanically inclinded but i've never touched the suspension. For you guys that have the same set up from toytec (front spacers and rear springs) about how long did it take you install? I hear that their instructions are pretty straight forward. I just want to make sure i can get it done in an afternoon since its my DD.

 

You could probably get it done in 4 hours, make sure u go and rent the strut spring compressor from advance auto parts, be cause you will need that and a floor jack.

 

About 2.5 hours with friends help - again ya need the spring compressor!

 

I did Daystar spacers about 2 years ago. The rear install was a piece of cake and only took about an hour or so. The front is a different matter. I took out my strut assembly and took it to a shop. They compressed it with a wall mounted compressor, then reassembled it with the spacers. IMO, it's much safer than using the Auto Zone compressors. For only $30 it was well worth it.

 

Im going to get the rest of my 2.5" lift by ups tuesday and i can't wait! I've got my topout spacers, longer studs and panhard coming from SS. I already have the rest of my lift. I wonder what is the time difference between using a lift and doing it on the floor???? Hopefully I will get to use a lift this week.

 

Man, I just checked out toytec's site. what a great deal this seems to be. I know the sonoma steel kit is SUPER nice but I can't see paying it for the amount of lift it provides.

yeah its my DD. I've heard nothing but great things about toytec. A quality product for a great price.

 

If you dont know what your doing with the suspension and spring compressors, i highly recomend taking the front struts to a shop to let them deal with it. Spring compressors are extremly dangerous especially compressing the spring that much to fit in some spacers. Im sure you can find a shop out there that'll do it for under 100$. I found one out here in AZ that did it for 80$, and he even took everything apart and put it back together Just my thoughts anyways.

 

Sweet lift you are about to do! My dad and I did it in 4hours, but we had the wrong compressor so we had to go back to Autozone..and I'm a make shift mechanic. Take your time, an impact wrench helped in compressing the coils and we held it won with a bench vice. The rear is cake, tires off, drop spare for room to work, support the center of 3rd member with floor jack, articulate the axle from one side(another jack or stand on brake drum) pull springs..reinstall--kudos! Don't forget diff drop and alignment shortly after! Congrats and take pics!!!

 

Isn't there a tech write up on this somewhere? I've searched but can't find one...

 

Search by lift name? My LC coils should be here by weds so I'm gonna take pics of my OME swap out! Maybe check under swapping springs or rear shocks??
